Research topic:
Monika Bočková is an architect and a member of the research team of the Department of Architecture at the Institute of HIstory of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. At the Faculty of Architecture and Design of Slovak University of Technology she completed her doctoral research on the topic of "The Planned River: the Relationship of the Danube and Bratislava in the Context of Urban Planning from the 18th Century to the Present." As a researcher, she focuses on urban history, modern urban planning and the heritage of architectural modernism. She is co-author of the publications Bratislava (Ne)planned city (2020), Yearbook of Slovak Architecture (2020) or Report on Slovak Architecture (2023) and a member of the Slovak working group DOCOMOMO. She also writes critically about contemporary architecture and engages in civic activism.
