The library serves as a reference library for researchers of the Institute of History of SAS. For the researchers outside of the Institute it offers the opportunity to study its sources at the Institute after a previous agreement.
Acquisitions are oriented mostly at basic historical publications and literature related to the scientific projects carried out by the Institute.
The library keeps records about library, informational and documentative funds and is responsible for their administration and protection.
The library creates:
- databases of the Slovak historiography https://husav.portaro.eu/#!/
- databases of publications and citations of researchers of the Institute of History of SAS https://www.sav.sk/index.php?lang=sk&doc=ins-org-ins&institute_no=18&action=publications&lang_change=en
- it cooperates with bibliographical databases centres home and abroad
